The K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, NJ, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that has operated continuously in Essex County, NJ since it was founded in 1944. Among its many activities, K-9 OTC offers reasonably priced group obedience classes for all pure and mixed breed dogs, at all ages. Teachers of these classes are experienced dog handlers who have been competing for many years in obedience, rally, agility, conformation, tracking and other field events. They are devoted to K-9 OTC's motto that "A trained dog makes a better companion". Classes are held on Tuesday evenings at theAnnex at Chestnut and Forest Streets in Montclair, NJ.
Every January, K-9 OTC holds one of the largest AKC-sanctioned Obedience and Rally Trials in northern New Jersey. Our Trials draw over 200 competitors showing dogs of all breeds. Beginning in 2011, mixed-breed dogs that are registered with the AKC may also compete at our January events.
